Wayne Crook
Music Director & Conductor
Wayne has been the director of the Fort Atkinson Community Band since 1998. That
means as of 2010, Wayne has been conducting the band for 12 years!
Prior to being appointed director he was active with the band as playing
member, assistant director and president of the board of directors for 26 years.
He is only the second conductor of the band in its 49 year history.
Wayne brings to the podium 37 years of experience as a music educator in
Wisconsin public schools. His performing groups consistently received the top
mark in the Wisconsin School Music Association contests and festivals. Retiring
from teaching after 37 years of teaching instrumental music, Wayne presently is
active as a master WSMA adjudicator and is a field representative. Other
interests include his piano tuning and repair business and performing with the
Madison, WI Brass Band.
His educational background includes a Bachelor/Masters of Education Degree
from the VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Ill. Additional course work at
the U.W. Wisconsin Universities.
